Whatcom County Fire District 18 is currently accepting applications for Firefighter/EMTs and EMT-only positions. All individuals who join Whatcom County Fire District 18's Fire team must meet these requirements: · Must be 18 years of age at the time of application.

Initial training will include attending the Whatcom Recruit Academy and Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) course. The Recruit Academy is approximately 200 hours of training completed over 12 weeks, including nights and weekends. The EMT course is approximately 165 hours of class, completed over 12 weeks on nights and weekends. Probationary Firefighters (minimum of 12 months) must attend 75% of department training and make up all missed training. Firefighters, after the probationary period, must attend a minimum of 50% of all scheduled department training and make up any mandatory training.
